AlloyWorks operates a state-of-art plasma arc cold hearth melting furnace to produce titanium alloy ingots for aerospace, industrial and defense applications. We ionize helium with high current to generate a plasma arc that is capable of melting titanium alloys (the temperature of the arc column generated by the plasma torch is~18,000 degrees Fahrenheit). AlloyWorks-TIMET is part of Precision Castparts Corporation (fully owned by Berkshire Hathaway, Inc.).
