Feb 1    Groundhog Job Shadow Day
The Chamber's Workforce Development Alliance invites you to host a High School Junior at your workplace. The Chamber works with the Rowan-Salisbury Schools Career & Technical Education (CTE) area. The idea is for students to “shadow” you for a half-day in your workplace. By exposing students early to different career fields, we hope they will make better choices about their education.

Feb 11    Business After Hours- Youth Substance Use Prevention Rowan

Business After Hours (BAH) is one of the Chamber’s premier networking events. Professionals utilize this opportunity to discuss and share ideas in a relaxed, social atmosphere, while learning about other member businesses.

  • When? From 5-7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, this is a float in and out event.
  • Where? BAH are sponsored and hosted at Chamber member establishments.
  • Cost? This event is free for members and open to non-members for a $20 fee payable at the door.
  • What to wear? Dress is business casual
  • What to bring? Business cards to exchange with potential customers and to enter the door prize drawing.
  • Hor d’oeurves and beverages are provided by the sponsor.

Feb 21    Power in Partnership Breakfast- Britt Weaver: Empire Hotel Development
Britt Weaver will speak about the Empire Hotel development at the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce’s Power in Partnership (PIP) breakfast on Thurs., February 21 7:30 a.m. at Trinity Oaks (728 Klumac Road).  
 
Britt Weaver is the developer of the Empire Hotel project in downtown Salisbury. Britt Weaver is a founding principal of Black Point Investments, a Charlotte, N.C.-based real estate developer of historic properties. Prior to Black Point, Weaver managed an asset portfolio valued in excess of $48 million in addition to raising capital for private equity and loan placements.
Weaver's professional experience spans international marketing, sales, finance and public relations. He served as Chief Financial Officer of Sencera International Corporation, a thin-film solar module company from 2007 through 2010. There he raised over $23 million in three equity rounds. Prior to Sencera, he spent 20 years in marketing and sales management with diverse companies such as Procter & Gamble, Sara Lee, Kellogg's and Beiersdorf AG.
In his last corporate assignment, he served as vice president of marketing & public relations for SonicBlue, Inc, a Santa Clara, CA semiconductor company. He was awarded Master of Business Administration from Harvard University in Boston, Mass. Weaver earned bachelor’s degree in political science at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C.
